Happy Mothers day mamas!! I hope you all have had a great day thus far! The boys made me an adorable little painting hanging in my office... has stars & moons and says Mommy, we love you more than the moon and all the stars in the sky. Super cute... and daddy got me an AMAZING Betsey Johnson bag, makeup bag, and a ton of new Glittersniffer pigments! Yay! Now hopefully we can have a great toddler tantrum drama free day! Now, I know you mama's aren't peeking at my blog on "your day" to read about my day... lol your here for the goods! So today is a SUPER FUN live giveaway... hosted by the super amazing Sarasewta.
Now, I like to think no one can do minky like RockerByeBaby... but I gotta say, this chica rocks it! And, since im a minky snob... im proud to say her minky passes my test, lol Since I have that outta the way... let move on to her INSANE prices... I know how much good minky costs... and I know how much of a pain it is to sew, lol... Im amazed at how fair her prices are. While in the process of writing this and searching to see what I would feature... I decided I needed to snag up a couple of her little wash cloths... theyre too cute to pass up... and too cheap! I got one zebra/lime & one turquoise/zebra for $8 and free shipping... AND i could have gotten 3 for $10! (NOw that I said that, i think i need to snag one more.) Such a steal... sure I have piles & piles of minky... but why make em myself when she does such a damn good job!? Im rambling... anyways - washcloths are not all she does (duh)... check out these minky crib shoes... TO DIE FOR!
Turquoise/Lime Minky Pull Over Bib

ReplyDeleteWhen my son was a tiny baby I'd give him baby massages which helped he and I strengthen our bond and relaxed him and made him feel great and in turn I did as well. http://parenting.ivillage.com/newborn/ncare/0,,lz_76tp,00.html abailey_crace@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI read to my son when he was first born all the time. I just think my voice soothed him. When he got a little older I read books to him as well and encouraged him to look at the pictures and interact. He loved books with pictures of other babies! abailey_crace@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI hearted the shop on Etsy, the small JOJO Minky Rice Bags (OMG, ZEBRA PRINT AND MINKY!! *droooool*) and the large bags! If Id on't win I'm totally going to order these! We are a boo-boo ridden household... ;P

ReplyDeleteOy, I can't read. LOL Okay, one of my new parent tips is that you can NEVER have enough burp rags. I wasn't prepared with my first daughter - I think we had about four burp rags. She ended up having acid reflux, and was a projectile puker! It was GROSS! We were using towels until the 24-pack of prefold diapers came in the mail and were prepped. LOL
ReplyDeleteOur "baby care bible" was Baby 411 - we got the toddler version when she grew up and then bought the updated one when we had daughter #2. I hate taking them to the doctor's office, so this book was GREAT for identifying freakout-worthy times. Fortunately most of the time, the things they had were simple childhood cooties, but that book saved my sanity, and saved my poor pediatrician from my harassing calls.
ReplyDeleteOne of the BIGGEST things I can not stress enough is that you can't let other people get to you. You will always do something different from your parents, aunts/uncles, friends, strangers in the supermarket... you *will* learn to grow a tough skin and selectively use advice. Don't let negative comments get to you (we got them with cloth diapering and baby wearing at first) and do things you feel is the right way. Your instincts will guide you, epecially as you get to know your little one. <3
ReplyDeleteBarring that, there are tons of forums and media like Facebook and twitter for you to get in touch with like-minded mamas and papas. ;-)
When I had my son we had company constantly coming over to see him and they would want to hold him the whole time so my advice to you is that when you feel they've held your baby enough and you want her back, just let them know. I wish I had done this more very early on because I wanted more of those times, not my family and friends, not that I didn't love them though, lol. abailey_crace@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteYou can never take enough pictures! abailey_crace@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteOn nice days take your new baby for lots of walks and let them take in the sights and sounds of what is around them. abailey_crace@yahoo.com

ReplyDeleteI only had one changing station in my home, on the second floor. Although I was tired sometimes, I got my exercise by walking up and down the stairs...helped keep me fit!
ReplyDeleteI loved using the Halo sleep sacks. They prevent baby from getting tangled up in bulky blankets and they are so cozy. Great for diaper changing too.
ReplyDeleteI added SarahSewta to my Etsy Favorites and hearted 2 items in her shop (Jewelia's Closet)

ReplyDeleteDon't compare you child to others around you. Each baby learns different things at different stages.
ReplyDeleteChildren rather be showered with your attention rather than material things.
ReplyDeleteSLEEP WHEN YOU BABY SLEEPS! EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT TIRED AT THAT MOMENT, you'll need all the extra zzz's you can get.
ReplyDeleteDon't rush the baby stage...they grow so fast. Enjoy your peaceful quite time with them before they can start to talk back to you or run away from you :)

ReplyDeleteNewborns do NOT need 1,000,403,023 cute outfits. They just won't get worn. I recieved alot of 6-9 and 9-12 items amongst the CLOSET FULL of newborn items at out shower and was very grateful for them now. Over half of the newborn items still have the tags on them!
ReplyDeleteIf a family member offers to snuggle baby so you can nap accept that offer! I wanted to stay awake so I wouldn't miss a thing....and I was tired ALOT!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tip was the one to ignore all advice you get from other parents. hehe! Just ignore the judgements. You will just know what is best for your baby and if it feels right, go with it. If it doesn't, don't feel like you HAVE to do anything!
ReplyDeleteNAP WHEN BABY NAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDO NOT DO THE DISHES AND DO NOT READ YOUR EMAIL!!!!
SHE WILL WAKE UP THE MOMENT YOU SIT DOWN TO REST SO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HER NAPS!!!
Dont get so caught up in taking photos that you miss spending time with your little one! Don't get me wrong...click away but don't get caught up in getting the perfect shot. Spend time with your bebe!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the age! I have a friend with a son about 6 months younger than mine and she is always saying how she wished her baby could walk, stand, etc. They will grow up TOO FAST AS IT IS! So just enjoy them when they are babies!
ReplyDeletethere are a lot of fancy gadgets out there and you don't need all of them! Keep it simple!

ReplyDeleteBaby advice #1: Try to set up a routine as early as possible. I didn't. For about 5 months. It was so hard. Jack's sleep was all off and he was up most of the night. Now, he knows when nap, bath, feeding, and night time are. He's good. Routines = heaven. ;]
ReplyDeleteBaby advice #2: Don't listen to every piece of advice you hear. I did that too. It was dumb. I kept trying to do what everyone else told me I should do and nothing worked for Jack. Just do what works for you and for your little one. You are the best judge of what's right for your baby.
ReplyDeleteBaby advice #3: If you want to, keep up a with your baby book. We moved across Texas when Jack was 4 months old and I couldn't find it until a few days ago, he's 7 months now. I can't remember a lot of when he did certain amazing little things so I now can't write them in the book. So sad. :[

As a new mom myself nap when she napes. I know everyone says how am I suppose to do that because I have other stuff to do etc but doing it at least once per day is a HUGE help especially in the first month or so!
ReplyDeleteCuddle Every Chance you get because it goes way way way to quickly!
ReplyDeleteDon't go to the hospital as soon as your water breaks...you'll be there forever if you do that!
ReplyDeleteRemember that it's okay to ask for help! I wanted to do everything all by myself and I still do to a certain extent
ReplyDeleteIt's okay to miss "me" time {your still a good mom}! I did and still do!

ReplyDeleteAs I am not a mother yet, the only advice that I have is to take time out for yourself and let your family watch the kids. Even if it's just for an hour or two while you take a nap or get your hair cut. I love being a aunt and I love every minute I get with my nieces and nephews.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the wonderful tips!

Get a TV show that you really like or have never seen before on DVD and watch it while you're up late with the baby. I actually found myself looking forward to 2am feedings, because then I could watch the rest of my show. Much more entertaining than a million shamwow and magic bullet informercials ;)

Footed jammies are a newborn's best friend. I had a few cute outfits for special occasions and sundays, but other than that, my kids were in jammies 24 hours a day. At that age its still cute and they're usually super soft.

My daughter didn't want me to put her down for the first 2 months of her life, so I invested inn a good infant carrier and wore her all the time. I could still get stuff done while she napped, and of course she was happy resting her head and drooling on my chest. I think after hearing my heartbeat in the womb for 9 months, it was the most soothing thing for her.

ReplyDeleteDon't obsess over what baby books and magazines say, babies are all different and some things work with one baby and not another and some babies like things others don't!
ReplyDeleteDon't go too crazy buying baby toys, it's the odd things like cotton balls, cell phones, and plastic tumbler cups that they end up loving any way ;)
