MMMmmmmm Rockin Green...
something i hold NEAR & DEAR to my heart... It is a regular staple in this house now, and it all started way back when I was offered a chance to review a couple samples & host a giveaway... here I am a YEAR later still "rockin" ROCKinGreen!
Kim is SUCH an amazing woman... she has donated soap to some of the "charity giftings" I have done in the past... giving mommys with nothing a chance to still cloth diaper which the help of some of my other mommy friends donating diapers... shes so loving... and I always appreciate her help. But enough of that sappy stuff... lets talk about soap!
Soap... boring right? WRONG. "ROCKinGreen detergents are safe for you and the enviro- ment. Rockin’ Green is: Dye free, Comes in several yummy scents (& an unscented version for sensitive skin), No fillers, No enzymes or optical brighteners, 100% Phosphate free, Vegan, great for sensitive skin, and MUCH MUCH MORE!" I stand by ROCKinGreen 110% and use their soap for EVERYTHING in my house... and tonight... I even Rocked a Soak...
By that i mean... I soaked all my cloth diapers in the bath tub for 2 hours... Half of these diapers are "new/used" ones i got from diaperswappers... omg, was it disgusting! I have soaked before with RnG and my water is always clear... but i have NEVER had this problem... CLEARLY these mamas were not using RnG... check it out...
the water was murky... very dark... just gross, and obviously soapy... which explains why within 2 hours of Zavery wearing one of these (even after I did a wash) he got a rash, he is very sensitive.... and one of these smelled so bad after only wearing it for about 30 minutes I had to take it off... i knew a soak was in order and ROCKinGreen would take care of it all... If you are a regular ROCKinGreen user, you know what I'm talking about... and if you DONT, you should totally try it. You can get samples from her website for .75 plus shipping and that will do 2/4 loads, (or a MUCH NEEDED soak)... Dont have the $ to spend right now? Never fear... take your chances here, because guess what!??!? Yep, you guessed it... a giveaway :) WE HAVE two winners this round... (Besides of course the Guest of Honor Mrs. Aymee Danger... she gets a bag too! She said I was spoiling her with ROCKinGreen, she's totally right :) One winner gets two sample packs that Kim sent me, and the other winner gets one 45 load bag of their choice! How do you win? Like this... Do at least ONE of the entries #1-#6 and then #7 is a free for all... Once you have done your mandatory entry you can enter with the #7 theme as many times as you would like... :) Have fun!
#1: Make ANY purchase (samples are fine too) from the ROCKinGreen website... comment with your order # for THREE ENTRIES. (three separate comments for each entry) ***edit: Orders made in the last WEEK will count towards this... just be sure to leave the order #***
#2: Subscribe to the ROCKinGreen YouTube channel. Some groooooooooss stuff in here that will make you change your bad detergent ways, lol
#3: Become a fan of the ROCKinGreen Facebook page!
#4: Follow @RockinGreenSoap on Twitter & tweet this (come back once a day to tweet for extra entries!)

#6: Grab our FLASH button from the sidebar and post it on your website/blog for 2 extra entries (comment twice with the link to where I can find it)
#7: Bonus entry/entries:
After doing at least ONE of the above entries... tell me your most disgusting cleaning story involving your kids... *with Aymee being a new mom and all she will need the preparation, lol*
My pretend entry... tonight... yes - tonight. I accidentally washed a poopy diaper in the washer... the babysitter is new to cloth and i totally forgot to tell her to dump the poop... I didnt notice, and did my first rinse... I opened the lid and though I was gunna puke! poop everywhere... I spent the next hour scrubbing the washer and running rinses w/ rockin green to get it clean. *shivers* NOTE TO SELF: Dont EVER do that again.... double, no TRIPLE check diapers for poop...

Most disgusting cleaning story: (this is gross) Last month with the tummy bug he projective vomited 3 times in a row all over him, me and the carpet (thank god we were on the floor)...ok we can deal i thought....all is good - into the bath we go. And then the other symptom of the tummy bug started. HOLEY POOP! ok...lets not panic i just brought him to the other bathroom since i still needed to clean him and dang it if he did not do it again. (poor baby) Cleaned the child in the kitchen sink and thankfully it was naptime so i was able to then clean/sanitize BOTH bathtubs....EWWWWWWWWWW (sorry for such a poopie morning tale!)

One of my worst gross baby moments was when my oldest (was 2.5 at the time) got a stomach flu. She crawled up on my bed in the middle of the night and proceeded to throw up directly on me. Worst thing to ever wake up to. It of course woke up my hubby who barely made it to the bathroom to puke because he was was so grossed out. Then while he's yacking, my newborn daughter (2 months old) starts wailing so I have to figure out a way to get to her and deal with a puke covered toddler & mama. We wrapped up in blankets & lo and behold there was a blow out diaper (when we used icky disposables) up to her hair and all over the sheets. The 3 of us just went directly into the tub and I had a good laugh/cry. After everyone was cleaned up & changed, we had our first family camp out on the living room floor. Needless to say, that night will forever be ingrained in my mind!

Here is my disgusting cleaning story...
ReplyDeleteWhen my 4th son was almost 1. He woke up from a nap and was playing happy in his crib, so I didn't even realize he was awake at first. When I finally heard him babbling I went in and him, his sheet, the crib... EVERYTHING... was completely smeared in poop. It was just so bad. I spent the next hour bathing him, wiping down the crib from top to bottom and washing the sheet/blanket. From then on he was not put down to bed or for a nap without a onsie on! My other 3 boys had never done that!
I even snapped a pic with my phone when I found him LOL. This picture does the mess absolutely NO justice. It was in his hair and all over his face... just everywhere! He painted ALL of the crib rails with it too. ugh lol. http://twitpic.com/1ngpf0

I'm fortunate enough to not have any really gross stories, I do have a fairly bad one though. A couple of months ago my 3 year old son came downstairs and into the kitchen where I was and immediately threw up all over. I, being in my 1st trimester of pregnancy, immediately copied him. So then I had to clean up vomit from both myself and my son...all the while gagging and trying not to throw up again. Not super fun.

ReplyDeleteGross cleaning story:
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago, we were all sick. I let my son fall asleep on the couch while I sat at the computer. A few minutes late, I hear him getting into this coughing fit. I yell asking him if he's okay, and he just keeps coughing! As my butt leaves the computer chair, I hear "splash!" and my heart sank a little...
I get over to the couch, and my son fell back to sleep COVERED in vomit, seriously HEAD TO TOE! There was PILES of it!
He was so tired that I could barely undress him to leave the mess where it was and ship him off into the tub. This kid had vomit in his EAR!
After getting him clean and getting him into bed, I tried to tackle my couch. I had to scrape the vomit into a garbage can before I could clean the fabric...done.
I head downstairs to grab my steamvac, only to remember I had lent it out...GREAT!
I doused the thing in straight vinegar, cleaning off as much as I could. It took a WEEK before I got my steamvac back, and no one sat on that couch during this time!

My 2nd daughter only pooped once a week when she was a baby, and every time, it was a mess. She'd be covered in poop from head to toe, no matter what diaper we used because of how much poop there was. I ended up double diapering her with one of her 3yo sisters night dipes over top if I thought she might poop.

My second son did the typical peeing during diaper changes. We were actually very happy that he did because my first son was anything but typical. He NEVER peed during changes, he would poop! I remember one evening in particular: I'm changing the baby (he was probably only 4 weeks old) and as soon as the diaper came off, he pooped. Projectile poop! There was poop all over the changing table, the diaper pail, the wall, and the carpet. No kidding, the poop actually traveled 5-6 feet across the room! I far prefer a little "fountain" during changes!

My most disgusting cleaning story: I had just started cloth diapering my 4 month old son, who also happens to get pretty constipated. After he hadn't gone for a couple of days (Yikes!), his doc told me to give him 1oz of prune juice with 1oz of water once a day until he went. So, I did that and nothing. The next day I gave him the same mixture and then it happened! He pooped- a gigantic poop! Luckily it was still contained by his cloth diaper. I cleaned him and he had a fresh diaper. Then comes poop #2! Ewww! Almost as big! (poor guy!)Same routine, cleaned, fresh diaper. A couple of minutes later, poop #3!!! AHHH! Thankfully he felt much better after that and after he got a bath and yet another fresh diaper, I put him down for a nap while I tackled 3 VERY poopy cloth diapers. Lets just say my diaper sprayer had its work cut out for it!

When Mahalia was small her poop was sometimes more like putty. So getting it off is almost like scrapping poop off with a waterpic. After being a little constipated Mahalia filled her diaper with a mucussy version of the putty poopy but it also had the weird mucus in it. When I went to clean it off it looked like slime running out of the diaper. GROSS! I really don't like when she is stuffy cause the poop is grosser.

My daughter was about 28 months or so. Which would make my other daughter about 4 months or so. I went in the toddler's room to get her from her nap and.......poop. Everywhere. She had pooped and then taken off her diaper. She wasn't playing in it, but it just gets on everything nonetheless. Poop on the crib, poop on the bedding, poop on the rocker, poop on the floor, poop on the books, poop on the wall, poop just everywhere. And I was home alone with the two girls - and had to clean all of this poop up by myself while managing a toddler who never stops moving and a baby who never wanted to be put down. Or sleep. SO much laundry. SO many clorox wipers. Steam Cleaner. Clothespin on my nose. Heh.

My most disgusting cleaning moment that didn't directly involve my son but was because of my son was another diaper cleaning story...
ReplyDeleteMy son is 6 months old and just recently started solids. It was his first "after solid" poo and I go to open his diaper and it was DISGUSTING! I won't go into detail but when you're used to very liquid poo that doesn't smell.. and go to a human biproduct of sweet potatoe. It was so gross. I went to kind of plop it into the toilet and wasn't really paying attention and 90% of it plopped into the toilet and in the process of me shaking it trying to get it off the diaper.. a nice big chunk plopped onto my pant leg. YUCK! Blech! It was so disgusting. I don't have a weak stomach, at all, and I was disgusted. It was so gross.
